1. Surface & Environmental Conditions

• Substrate Quality: Clean, sound, dry, stable, and free of dust, oils, wax, grease, or loose debris. Structural defects or weak substrates must be repaired prior to application.

• Moisture Limits: Substrate moisture must not exceed 3% for concrete/cement screeds, 0.5% CM for anhydrite screeds, or 0.3% CM for anhydrite with underfloor radiant heating.

• Radiant Heating Systems: Underfloor radiant heating must be turned off at least 72 hours prior to application and remain off during installation.

• Ambient Temperature: Air and substrate temperatures must be maintained between 59°F and 77°F (15°C to 25°C). Avoid extreme heat or drafts.

2. Substrate Priming

• Absorbent Substrates (Concrete, Screed, Plaster): Apply 1 or 2 coats of MyPRIMER using a roller or brush. Allow 2–4 hours drying time before applying MyBASE.

• Non-Absorbent Substrates (Ceramic Tile, OSB, Wood Panels): Apply a coat of MyPRIMER.

3. Mixing Procedure

• Precise Proportioning: Combine 1 part by weight of MyBOND to 2.5 – 3.5 parts by weight of MyBASE powder (for small test kits, use a 3:1 powder-to-liquid weight ratio). Always measure components using a precise electronic scale.

• Pre-Mixing Liquid: Stir MyBOND alone at low speed for 3 minutes before combining with powder.

• Combining Powder & Liquid: Gradually add MyBASE powder into MyBOND while continuously mixing with a paddle mixer at low speed for 3 minutes until a smooth, homogeneous, lump-free mass is achieved.

4. Applying the First Layer & Fiberglass Mesh (Optional)

• Spreading the Base Coat: Apply the mixed mass using a stainless steel trowel in a thin coat no thicker than 1/32 in (1 mm) using continuous ‘wet-on-wet’ transitions.

• Embedding Mesh (For Crack Resistance): Immediately embed alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh into the fresh, wet base coat across panel seams or flexible substrates.

• Coverage / Consumption: Approximately 0.20 – 0.25 lb/sq ft (~20 – 25 lbs per 100 sq ft).

5. Drying, Sanding, and Second Layer

• First Layer Drying: It must dry completely for 2–4 hours (until firm and dry to touch).

• Dry Sanding & Dust Extraction: Sand the dry base layer using 60–120 grit sandpaper.

CRITICAL DUST & SANDING SAFETY RULES:

1. DO NOT WET SAND. Wet sanding degrades the uncured polymer-cement matrix and introduces unwanted moisture in the coating.

2. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Always wear a NIOSH-approved dust mask rated N95 or better during mixing and sanding operations.

3. DUST EXTRACTION: Connect sanders directly to a HEPA vacuum system (or use a dedicated HEPA vacuum) to thoroughly collect dry dust before applying subsequent coats.

• Second Layer (Required if installing Fiberglass Mesh): Apply a second thin coat of MyBASE (coverage: approx. 0.10 – 0.16 lb/sq ft / ~10 – 16 lbs per 100 sq ft).

• Second Drying & Sanding: Allow 4 hours to dry, sand with 80 grit or finer sandpaper, safety glasses, and gloves. Use ventilation / dust extraction / HEPA vacuum. Wear suitable footwear to avoid transferring dust.

6. Topcoat & Sealing

• Topcoat Transition: After 4–6 hours from the final MyBASE coat, the surface is ready for decorative layers of MyCROCEMENTTM or direct polyurethane sealing.

7. Safety & Tool Care

• Tool Cleanup: Wash trowels, mixing paddles, and buckets with water immediately after use; hardened material must be removed mechanically.

• PPE Requirements: Wear protective gloves, safety goggles, and a NIOSH-approved N95 or better dust mask. Ensure adequate airflow in enclosed work spaces. Use ventilation / dust extraction / HEPA vacuum. Wear suitable footwear to avoid transferring dust.

• Storage & Shelf Life: Store in original sealed packaging in dry rooms between 50°F and 77°F (10°C–25°C). PROTECT STRICTLY FROM FROST. Shelf life is 12 months.
