The Foundation for the MyCROCEMENT™ System
A properly prepared surface is the foundation of a successful microcement application. MyPRIMER is the system primer designed to prepare surfaces for MyCROCEMENT™ and create the right foundation for strong, consistent adhesion.
Whether you’re updating a bathroom, floor, wall, countertop, or another suitable surface, MyPrimer™ helps create a uniform surface so the MyCROCEMENT™ system can perform as designed.
Why MyPrimer Matters
Microcement is only as reliable as the surface beneath it.
MyPrimer™ helps prepare the substrate by creating a suitable bonding surface between the existing material and the MyCROCEMENT™ layers applied over it.
MyPrimer™ is designed to:
- Improve adhesion between the substrate and MyCROCEMENT™
- Create a consistent surface for application
- Help prepare smooth or less-absorbent substrates
- Provide a reliable foundation for the MyCROCEMENT™ system
- Simplify surface preparation for DIYers and professionals
Designed to Work With MyCROCEMENT™
MyPrimer™ is part of the complete MyCROCEMENT™ System.
The system is designed so each component works together—from surface preparation through the final protective coat.
Typical system sequence:
1. Prepare → 2. Prime with MyPrimer → 3. Apply MyCROCEMENT™ → 4. Seal
Using the recommended system components helps ensure that the layers are compatible and applied according to the system specifications.
Where Can MyPrimer Be Used?
MyPrimer™ is intended for use as part of the MyCROCEMENT™ application system on properly prepared, suitable substrates.
Depending on the project, MyCROCEMENT™ can be applied over a variety of existing surfaces, including:
- Concrete
- Cement-based surfaces
- Drywall and other suitable wall surfaces
- Existing tile
- Properly prepared floors
- Plywood and OSB
- Laminate
- Quartz, Marble, Granite, Stone
- Other sound, stable substrates
The substrate must be clean, sound, dry, and properly prepared before priming.
For specific substrate requirements and preparation instructions, always follow the current MyCROCEMENT™ Application Guide and product technical documentation.
How to Use MyPRIMER
1. Prepare the Surface
Remove dust, dirt, grease, loose material, and anything that could interfere with adhesion.
The substrate should be sound, clean, dry, and stable before application.
Repair cracks, holes, loose areas, or other substrate problems before proceeding.
2. Apply MyPRIMER
Apply MyPrimer evenly according to the product’s application instructions.
Avoid excessive buildup, puddling, or uneven application.
3. Allow to Dry
Allow the primer to dry completely before applying MyCROCEMENT™.
Recommended waiting time: approximately 2 hours, depending on conditions.
Temperature, humidity, ventilation, and substrate characteristics can affect drying time.
4. Apply MyCROCEMENT™
Once MyPRIMER has properly dried, proceed with the MyCROCEMENT™ application according to the system instructions.
A Better Start Means a Better Finish
The primer isn’t the most visible part of a microcement project—but it is one of the most important.
A properly prepared and primed surface gives you the foundation you need before the decorative layers go on.
Prepare it right. Prime it right. Then build your finish.
MyPRIMER for DIY Projects
You don’t need to be a professional installer to use the MyCROCEMENT™ system.
MyPRIMER is designed to make the preparation stage straightforward and predictable for homeowners taking on their own microcement projects.
The key is preparation: don’t rush the substrate.
Take the time to clean, repair, and properly prepare the surface before applying primer. The finished appearance of your project starts long before the first layer of microcement goes on.
For Professionals
MyPRIMER is also designed for contractors, remodelers, and professional installers who want a consistent preparation step within the MyCROCEMENT™ system.
For professional applications, always evaluate the existing substrate and follow the appropriate preparation requirements before beginning installation.
Important Application Notes
MyPRIMER is a surface preparation product, not a substitute for proper substrate preparation.
Before application:
- Make sure the substrate is structurally sound.
- Remove contaminants and loose material.
- Repair defects that could affect the finished system.
- Follow the recommended application conditions.
- Allow the primer to dry before applying MyCROCEMENT™.
- Follow the current Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Application Guide for complete instructions.
If you’re unsure whether your existing surface is suitable, contact MyCROCEMENT™ before starting your project.

Do I need MyPRIMER before applying MyCROCEMENT™?
Yes. MyPRIMER stabilizes porous or non-porous substrates, prevents the MyCROCEMENT™ from drying out too quickly, and creates the ideal mechanical bond for seamless adhesion.
What surfaces can I apply MyPRIMER to?
It bonds to drywall, concrete, cement backer board, plaster, existing ceramic tile, laminate, and wood substrates.
How long does MyPRIMER take to dry?
Allow 30 to 60 minutes until dry to the touch before applying your base layer or fiberglass mesh. Apply MyCROCEMENT™ within 24 hours of priming.
What is the coverage rate of MyPRIMER?
One gallon covers approximately 350–400 sq. ft. depending on substrate porosity. Highly porous surfaces like raw concrete may require slightly more material.
Can I apply MyPRIMER on outdoor surfaces?
Yes, MyPRIMER is formulated for both interior and exterior applications on stable, well-drained substrates.
Complete Your MyCROCEMENT™ System
MyPrimer is one part of a complete system designed to help you create a durable, seamless microcement finish.

*PPE & Cleanliness Notice: Sanding and mixing powders create airborne dust hazards. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a fitted dust mask/respirator (N95+), protective eyewear, and gloves. Use adequate ventilation or active dust extraction. Wear suitable footwear to avoid transferring dust outside the work area.
