Shelf Life & Pot Life Guide

ProductShelf LifePot Life / Working TimeStorage & Handling Instructions
MyCROCEMENT™12 MonthsResealable (No chemical pot life limit; governed by air drying)Keep the bucket rim, inner rim and sides completely clean before sealing. Wipe away wet paste from the edge to ensure an airtight seal and prevent skinning between uses.
MyPRIMER12 MonthsResealableEnsure the container lid is snapped shut tightly. Store in a cool, dry area above freezing to maintain adhesion properties.
MyGUARD12 Months45–60 MinutesShelf life applies to unopened Part A & Part B containers. Pot life begins immediately once mixed. Mix only the amount you can apply within 45 minutes to avoid product waste.
MyBASE / MyBOND12 Months1 HourRemains workable for up to 60 minutes after opening/mixing. Keep out of direct sunlight and high heat while working to prevent early skinning and premature flash-setting.

2-Component Products (MyGUARD): Chemically react and harden within 45–60 minutes. Once mixed, the reaction cannot be stopped or reversed.

Cementitious Mixtures (MyBASE + MyBOND): Remain workable for up to 60 minutes, though higher ambient temperatures will shorten working time.

Ready-to-Use Pastes & Primers (MyCROCEMENT™, MyPRIMER): Have no chemical pot life limit. Their working time is only limited by physical exposure to air and ambient drying.

Storage Best Practices

  • Temperature Range: Store all products sealed in a climate-controlled area between 50°F and 77°F (10°C–25°C). Do not allow products to freeze.
  • Air Exposure: Premixed materials rely on tight seals to prevent premature curing. Clean lid grooves with a damp rag before pressing lids tight.
  • Top-Off Tip: If storing partially used buckets of premixed microcement for extended periods, press a sheet of plastic cling wrap directly onto the surface of the wet material before sealing the lid.

How long do MyCROCEMENT™ products last if unopened?

All unopened MyCROCEMENT™ products—including MyCROCEMENT™ paste, MyPRIMER, MyGUARD, MyBASE, and MyBOND—have a shelf life of 12 months from the manufacture date when stored in original, sealed containers under recommended conditions.

What happens if my product freezes?

Freezing will permanently ruin the polymer emulsions in water-borne primers, resins, sealers, and premixed pastes. Always store your materials in a climate-controlled environment between 50°F and 75°F (10°C–24°C), and keep them elevated off cold concrete floors during winter months.

How do I properly reseal a partially used bucket of MyCROCEMENT™ paste?

Before closing the lid, thoroughly wipe down the inner bucket rim and lid grooves with a clean, wet rag or sponge to remove leftover wet paste. For maximum protection against air exposure during extended storage, lay a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the remaining wet material before snapping the lid shut tight.

What is the difference between Shelf Life and Pot Life?

– Shelf Life refers to how long an unopened product remains stable in storage from its manufacture date.
– Pot Life (or working time) is the limited time window you have to apply a product once opened or mixed:

How much MyGUARD sealer should I mix at one time?

Because MyGUARD has a strict pot life of 45–60 minutes once Part A and Part B are combined, only mix the exact amount you can comfortably roll out within 45 minutes. Never mix an entire kit at once unless you have multiple installers applying it immediately on a large surface.

Can I pour unused, mixed MyGUARD back into the container or use it later?

No. Once Part A and Part B are mixed, the chemical curing reaction cannot be paused or reversed. Any leftover mixed sealer that exceeds its 60-minute pot life will gel, harden, and must be disposed of. Unused, unmixed components should remain sealed in their respective original bottles.

How can I tell if my premixed paste or primer has expired or gone bad?

If a product has expired, frozen, or been exposed to air over time, you may notice extreme hard settling, a rubbery or dried skin, an unpleasant sour odor, or separation that cannot be mixed back into a smooth, uniform consistency. If the material does not stir smoothly, do not apply it to your surface.
