MyBASE

MyBASE — High-Stress Microcement Reinforcement Base

The ultimate structural foundation for heavy-traffic, high-flex microcement installations.

MyBASE is a heavy-duty microcement reinforcement layer engineered specifically for high-stress areas—such as high-traffic floors, staircases, countertops, and substrates prone to micro-movement. Mixed directly with MyBOND, MyBASE forms a resilient, flexible sub-layer that bridges minor subfloor imperfections and builds maximum structural strength before you apply your final decorative finish.

Why Choose MyBASE?

  • Maximum Crack & Flex Resistance: Engineered to absorb substrate tension and prevent surface telegraphing or cracking in demanding environments.
  • Fiberglass Mesh Compatible: Specifically designed to embed fiberglass reinforcing mesh between coats for maximum tensile strength.
  • Superior System Adhesion: Creates a mechanical and chemical bridge between your primed substrate and the decorative MyCROCEMENT™ layers.
  • Smooth, Workable Consistency: Blends effortlessly with MyBOND to create an easy-to-trowel base layer with ideal open time for DIYers and pros alike.

The 4-Step Microcement Layering System

To achieve an indestructible, waterproof microcement finish, MyBASE works as the core strength component within our complete layered application system:

Application Walkthrough

1.Substrate Priming:Prerequisite.

Apply a thorough coat of MyPRIMER to your clean, dry substrate. Allow to dry completely according to primer specs before starting the base layer.

2.Mix MyBASE + MyBOND: Batch Preparation.

Mix MyBASE powder with MyBOND resin until you reach a uniform, cream-like, trowelable paste. Ensure no dry lumps remain.

3.First Coat & Mesh Embedding: Layer 1.

Apply the first coat of mixed MyBASE evenly across the surface with a stainless steel microcement trowel. While the layer is still wet, sink your fiberglass mesh directly into the coat, smoothing out any wrinkles or overlaps.

4.Second Coat Application: Layer 2.

Once the first coat has set, apply the second coat of MyBASE + MyBOND directly over the mesh to fully encapsulate it. Trowel flat to build a smooth, reinforced base.

5.Sand & Prepare for MyCROCEMENT™: Next Steps.

Lightly sand down any high ridges or trowel marks once dry. Vacuum the dust, then proceed directly with your MyCROCEMENT™ finish layers, followed by MyGUARD topcoat sealer.

Environemntal Safety & VOC info

Is MyBASE required for every project, or can I skip to MyCROCEMENT™?

While low-stress or purely decorative surfaces (like accent walls and furniture) can go straight from MyPRIMER to MyCROCEMENT™, MyBASE is mandatory for high-stress zones or any substrate with uncertain stability, flexibility, or rigidity. If you are applying microcement over floors, stairs, countertops, existing tile, or any surface prone to micro-movement, MyBASE provides the essential crack-bridging foundation required for long-term durability.

Can I mix MyBASE with water instead of MyBOND?

No. MyBASE is formulated to react specifically with MyBOND resin. Mixing with water will compromise the structural flexibility, adhesion strength, and crack resistance of the foundation layer.

How soon after embedding the mesh do I apply the second coat of MyBASE?

The fiberglass mesh should be embedded directly into the wet first coat of MyBASE. Once that first layer has set and firmed up (typically a few hours, depending on ambient humidity and temperature), you can apply the second coat of MyBASE to completely cover and encapsulate the mesh.

Can MyBASE be left as the final finish coat?

No. MyBASE is a functional base layer engineered for structural performance and mesh embedding, not for visual aesthetic. It must be covered with your decorative coats of MyCROCEMENT™ and finished with MyGUARD sealer to achieve a smooth, waterproof, and stain-resistant finish
